+ a trio of notable hip hop releases + Mong Tong x Gong Gong Gong
have booked Mong Tong x Gong Gong Gong China tour:)
fantastic! I’m sure it’ll be a great show
Kind of Shoegaze 2 seems to be available at https://kindofshoegaze.bandcamp.com/album/kind-of-shoegaze-vol-2
Yes, you're right. Took them a while, but (as noted in the latest issue) Vol 1 and 2 are now available on Bandcamp and iTunes
Oh boy. This issue. The headline was like clickbait! So much listening to do... thanks!
I've loved this other Mong Tong collaboration recently too. All four tracks are superb. https://fordtrio.bandcamp.com/album/khun-pra
And The Claptraps. Yes! They released an early tape on Beijing's Nugget Records. Which I see is sadly no more. It was a cool place to hang out. https://www.livechinamusic.com/interview-dave-carey-nugget-records/
Ahaha, extremely niche clickbait. That’s what Concrete Avalanche is all about really.
Thanks for the extra Mong Tong recommendation. Never enough really.
And yes, shame about Nugget but glad that some of the bands from that scene are still going…
Also worth noting is the new Ghostmass 大鬼众 recording for Dusty Ballz.
Yes, very much so! The releases (two of them, on Dusty Ballz and WV Sorcerer) came out a bit too close to this newsletter being published for me to properly absorb and write about them but they will be prominent in the next issue for sure
apologies, should've said 'the next next issue' - release date is November 1 so will have something on them in the next issue. Honest
